In an era where technology shapes how we communicate, learn, and engage with society, equipping young people with digital literacy and civic awareness is more important than ever. I recently joined an inspiring youth program focused on enhancing digital competencies, media literacy, and human rights advocacy.
The program’s main goal is to ensure that young people are not just passive consumers of digital content, but active participants in shaping the digital world. Through interactive sessions and practical workshops, we explored how to critically analyze media, verify data, and access trustworthy information skills that are vital in an age of misinformation.
One of the most impactful aspects of the program was learning how digital tools can be used to advocate for human rights and engage in policy making. We were encouraged to think globally and act locally by understanding our responsibilities and rights in the digital sphere while also learning how to influence decision makers at both the community and European levels.
Participating in this program gave me a stronger sense of digital citizenship. It motivated me to be more conscious of the digital content I consume and share, and to become an advocate for positive change in my own community using technology as a force for good.
